Barack Obama’s daughter is working at a seafood restaurant for her pocket money
The Obama girls Malia and Sasha have mostly avoided staying in the limelight despite being daughters of the most powerful parents in the US. Though their moves are always followed by the prying eyes of media, the teenage daughters of PresidentBarack Obama have mostly managed to stay away from becoming news for the wrong reasons.
But it’s applause-worthy that 15-year-old Sasha Obama has given up the comfort of the White House and has taken up a job at a seafood joint in Massachusetts during her summer break.
Her job at the joint called Nancy’s on Martha’s Vineyard reportedly includes waiting for the tables, maintaining cash register and helping the restaurant prepare for lunch. Also, in the photographs that have gone viral on social media, Sasha wears the restaurant’s uniform; blue t-shirt and a cap.
According to Boston Herald, she is accompanied by six Secret Service agents who wait outside till she completes her four-hour shift. “She’s been working downstairs at the takeout. We were wondering why there were six people helping this girl, but then we found out who it was,” a co-worker told Herald.
Reportedly, the joint is Obamas’ favourite and they don’t forget to stop by during their annual vacation to Martha’s Vineyard. Also, the owner Joe Moujabber is their friend.
The 15-year-old has taken a summer job serving food at the business in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
Sasha, using her full name, Natasha, has been accompanied to the restaurant by a contingent of six secret service agents, the Boston Herald reports.
The town has been a favourite location for the Obamas on their summer breaks.
Photographs show the president’s youngest daughter wearing the restaurant’s uniform of blue T-shirt and cap and working at a till.
A co-worker told the Herald: “She’s been working downstairs at the takeout. We were wondering why there were six people helping this girl, but then we found out who it was.”
The White House has not commented on the report but First Lady Michelle Obama has spoken about trying to bring her two daughters up as normally as possible.
As well as working on the takeaway counter, Sasha Obama’s other duties reportedly include waiting on tables and helping to prepare the restaurant for its lunchtime opening.
Her security team has been seen waiting nearby in a large car or sitting on benches while the First Daughter deals with tourists’ meals.
